Rainbow Six Siege Update Ends Mouse and Keyboard Supremacy on Consoles

Rainbow Six Siege console players are sure to have some feelings about the game’s most recent update. What those feelings will be are probably going to depend on whether they use a mouse and keyboard or stick with controllers when playing. The change negates the advantage mouse and keyboard players have over controller users on consoles in the shooter.

The update implements a feature named “Mousetrap” that will issue a penalty to players it detects are playing on mouse and keyboard, adding lag to their input. This isn’t just a matter of matching input from the various devices until they’re even, however. Instead, the lag will continue to increase over time as a player continues to use the keyboard and mouse throughout matches in order to “[increase] fairness by removing their unfair advantage” making it more difficult for mouse and keyboard players to aim and shoot. Players can have the lag removed, gradually, by completing matches with a controller. Doing so will reduce lag with each match completed until it’s back to normal.
